breif statement and if you have information to prove your point than show me your resources! Thank you!!!!
to be more specific i want to know if people believe in global warming period! Not if they believe its the climate change or man made! Thank you tho!

  1. James E says:

Currently global warming ended as an issue 3 years ago when the sun went into the deepest recorded solar minimum ever. Until the sun returns to normal activity again the world will cool off as the incoming heat from the sun is now noticeably less than the planet requires to maintain a comfortable climate in higher latitudes. So the planet will cool, slightly at first because of the heat currently stored in lake and oceans which will take time to dissipate.

Later when the heat that has been stored for the last 200 years of high solar activity dissipates in 5 to 10 years we will start experiencing serious solar minimums. The only real question we cannot currently answer is how severe will this solar minimum be and how long will it last. We currently do not know if it will be a minor one like the Dalton minimum of the early 1800s. or a more severe one like the Maunder minimum of the 1650s that was the coldest point of the little ice age.

Then considering that our current Holocene climate optimum is either at or near its end based on historical evidence of at least 6 prior optimums and the ice ages they were associated with as suddenly and completely as the sun shut down we could be heading into another ice age as we left 14,000 years ago. Point is we do not really know yet where we are heading because liberal interference in scientific experimentation has prevented us from reaching as good of a scientific understanding as we could of if liberals had been kept in service jobs as they should be.

Some scientific information revealing the truth about global warming, when it happened and what probably caused it.

  2. Muledancer says:

Global warming (modified to be "climate change" which covers them no matter _which_ way the average temperature fluctuates) is indeed real and has been documented with ice cores dating back tens of thousands of years.

What is NOT real is the quackery that humans caused (or can even affect) global warming.

The scare tactics being perpetrated upon us are only a money/power grab scheme by bottom-feeder politicians accompanied by their so-easily-led sheeple who take their prattle, even their movies, as hard science.

To find that my statement above is true, follow the money. See just who it is who will profit from the carbon offset, carbon tax, & etc.

Here is truth about global warming:

Global warming is one-half of the climatic cycle of warming and cooling.
The earth’s mean temperature cycles around the freezing point of water.
This is a completely natural phenomenon which has been going on since there has been water on this planet.

It is driven by the sun.

Our planet is currently emerging from a ‘mini ice age’, so is
becoming warmer and may return to the point at which Greenland is again usable as farmland (as it has been in recorded history).
As the polar ice caps decrease, the amount of fresh water mixing with oceanic water will slow and perhaps stop the thermohaline cycle (the oceanic heat ‘conveyor’ which, among other things, keeps the U.S. east coast warm).

When this cycle slows/stops, the planet will cool again and begin to enter another ice age.

    Thermohaline cycle
Warm water is less dense than cold water. One of the ocean currents runs North up the east coast of the U.S.
When this warm ocean water reaches the arctic ocean, it is cooled which makes it become more dense.
The now dense salt water drops to the sea floor and begins its return to the southern loop of its cycle.
Fresh water from meltoff of the northern ice pack dilutes this sea water which makes it less dense.
The diluted, less dense water drops to the sea floor more slowly which slows the entire cycle.

If diluted enough, this circulation stops entirely.

When the circulation stops, then the planet will begin to cool and enter an ice age which will stop the meltoff.

As the salinity in the north Atlantic increases, the water will once again begin to sink to the sea floor and the cycle will restart and our planet will emerge from its ice age and enter another warm period.
    That is happening now.

It’s been happening for millions of years.

    It will change.

The worrisome and brutal predictions of drastic climate effects are based on computer models, NOT CLIMATE HISTORY.

As you probably know, computer models are not the most reliable of sources, especially when used to ‘predict’ chaotic systems such as weather.

    Global warming/cooling, AKA ‘climate change’:

    Humans did not cause it.

    Humans cannot stop it.

  3. BB says:

At this point, I do not buy into the Man-caused global warming thing simply because the data that purports to support the Warming cause is corrupt.

  4. rich says:

You ask the wrong question, like most (spell it "poll" in this case) surveys. Mark me down as a non-believer. Does climate change? Yes. Always has. Always will. We can adapt. Is the response to recent fluctuations in temperature (that were caused by a solar maximum coinciding with an El Nino Southern Oscillation) rational? No. Are the proposed "solutions" viable? No. Will "Global Warming threaten civilization? No. Do the people in other countries that are already taking "precautions" to combat Global Warming believe that they are doing the right thing? No.

  5. scott44273 says:

    1. Is global warming happening
    2. If it is happening, is it man made
    3. If it is man made is it bad or good
    4. If it is bad how bad is it
    5. What is the cost to avoid the bad outcome
    6. Is the price worth paying

All these questions need answers before we take action.

They are not all answered to my satisfaction.

  6. Philip H says:

Global warming is a Political name given to the increase in in global temperatures that is caused by man made means.
Adding greenhouse gasses to our atmosphere must have an impact on temperatures. but Climate Change is a natural, poorly understood phenomena that has been occurring over millions of years and is not caused by any influence by mankind.
I believe there is Global Warming but I do not believe the ongoing Climate Change is strongly influenced by human activity. It is mainly caused by changes in solar activity and ocean currents.
Global Warming is mainly just a claim that can be used as a way of grabbing political power and control.
Human activity does not cause Climate Change and therefore can not be controlled by human intervention.
Humanity survives better when there is no ice age. It is hard to grow crops on a glacier. (Just ask the Vikings about that.)
History is all the proof we need that Climate change is a phenomenon that repeats itself at irregular intervals.
I believe the Earth’s large human population and our cities are a large part of the problem . If we had a small population and lived a nomadic lifestyle, it would be easy to walk away from an advancing glacier or move away from rising sea levels. Since that is not the case, Climate Change becomes a political and economic issue our politicians can’t deal with so they grab a straws and make claims (like Global Warming) to show they are in charge when they really don’t know what they are talking about, are unable to really do anything about and probably shouldn’t try to change.
We would be better off making plans to encourage birth control and a life style without political borders that will permit shifts in population centers when needed.
But that won’t happen so elitist despots will keep promoting false notions of grandure as they dictate your lifestyle and accomplish nothing of value.

  7. Ottawa Mike says:

History says an ice age is on the way. And whether it’s a hundred, five hundred, one thousand or ten thousands years away, I’m happy with warm right now.

However, I have two concerns that we are not going stay warm. The first is a negative Pacific Decadal Oscillation phase and the second is solar inactivity.

  8. nonfiction says:

Yes global warming is real. The globe has only warmed about 0.8 degrees centigrade in the last century but any positive number is considered warming.

    It is science.
And when considering science on this topic, look at the IPCC. It is a scientific body created by the UN.

Scientists from every one of the 192 member countries analyze all the literature on the topics, and come together. All those scientists come to ONE general consensus. After they compose their consensus every one of the representatives in the UN must sign their approval before it is published.

hundreds of scientists, representing MILLIONS of scientists, coming to one consensus, and then approved by 192 representatives across the globe.

needless to say, most statements coming out of this scientific body are conservative.

But when it comes to warming, it just a matter of quantitative temperature, and yes…the world is warming! As I said, only by less than one degree thus far but warming all the same.

Figured I should add that I am talking about global climate here. It extends over decades. Of course, year by year where you live may be a couple degrees warmer or colder than the year before, but this is weather and it is extremely varied. The information I provided you is a long-term global average, and it is seemingly unnoticeable compared to the yearly and daily variations in local weather.

How did someone give me a thumbs down? This is non-fiction, this is fact, don’t get emotional.

  9. Nata T says:

the earths climate changes. that’s a fact. Can it warm, yes, can it cool yes.

If anyone says anything more, it’s bloviating.

  10. Starbuck says:

It is warming, but it also is a natural cycle leading to another climate someday.

  11. punker_rocker says:

Well, at one point, I would have told you that I believed the earth was warming. About three years ago it would have been a fact. But I also would have told you that it’s ridiculous to think that humans are causing global warming through emission of CO2. CO2 takes up (if I remember right) around 0.2% of the atmosphere, and human emissions are responsible for far less than half of that. So…what would be a more likely cause? That less-than-one one-thousandth-of-a-percent gas in the atmosphere, or the thing that is responsible from the changes in temperature from day to night, and from season to season — the sun?

These days, however, scientists are getting very concerned about the persistence of the extremely low level of sunspots. (Sunspots are cooler areas on the sun, but when the sun has a high level of them, the overall radiation level is much higher. So no sunspots means colder days on earth.) The earth is currently COOLING right now. Why are we panicking about global warming?

  12. Charles says:

I think Global Warming is a scam.

  13. johno says:

I do believe in it. I have expereinced great temperature increase in the last five years. Here in SA we used to have a very cold winter but now winter is as hot as summer

  14. Jayd1975 says:

    GW yes.
    Man-made – a little

Size of the problem – grossly exageratted.

    Proof:

1.) 1 degree change in 100 years, half of which can not even be attributed to man.
2.) .28% of the GHGs placed into the atmosphere are man 99.72% are nature
3.) Models predicting runaway devastating GW have been shown inaccurate in both methodology and by the lack of ability to predict.
4.)Ice increases in Antartic have balanced out Ice decreases in Artic.

Should we reduce use of fossil fuels? Yes
Should we implement Cap and Trade and tax the middle class during a recession? No
Should Al Gore have to give up his private jet and his $400 million from all the people he has swindled with his lies? ABSOLUTELY!!!

  15. Supernerd says:

AS the girl a few ppl beore me said, we are cooling. IF people dont feel like adapting to temps a few degrees cooler than keep using as much oil and gasoline and greenhouse emissions as you can! But no. in 2030 people will be wondering why it is colder. Than 20 years later people will wonder why it is warmer.

  16. studentofthepast says:

I do NOT believe in man made global warming. Here is a paper that explains this.

    http://www.nationscrier.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=63%3Aclimate-change-natural-or-man-made&Itemid=62

  17. αληθεια θεου says:

No. Thirty years ago we were all gonna freeze, ten years ago, we were all gonna burn, and now we think we might freeze again, and now we can’t figure out whether or not we’re gonna freeze or burn. I have yet to see conclusive evidence on both sides.

  18. HAHAHA says:

This isn’t a poll just to let you know. A poll doesn’t ask why, it just asks if. So I will tell you if:

I think that over the long term we are warming when we should in fact be cooling, and that this is what led to climate scientist supporting the 1945 hypothesis that rising greenhouse gas levels could warm the earth and thus turn it into a theory.

  19. UXB says:

Your question for the poll is worded wrong. The poll question should be "are human beings causing global warming?"

Global Warming is just another name for Climate Change! We will have climate change on earth with or without any human beings being on it! In our past we (our earth) has had tens of thousands of climate change periods – all accomplished without any help from man!

To believe that man is solely responsible for climate change/global warming is sheer nonsense! But GW is a good excuse to raise taxes on human beings to pay for social programming. Save the world by paying higher taxes seems a worthy cause but it only a ruse to separate you from your hard earned cash! Use the taxes to save the world is the excuse given but this is just to create a socialist style government through out the world!

Human beings do not cause GW or Climate Change!

  20. JcL says:

Ok briefly, I do not think the evidence is clear. In 1953 Time Magazine said it was a threat to the earth, but then in 1974 they changed their mind and said the threat to the earth was a coming Ice Age. So now I guess its GW again. Its almost like the "experts" didn’t know what they were talking about.

Then we also have the case of Al Gore’s movie. Did you know the UK High Court ruled “Inconvenient Truth” contained “Nine Key Scientific” errors? (Does that sound like science to you?)
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthne…

So if Al Gore is such an expert, why won’t he debate anyone or even ANSWER A QUESTION about it?

Al Gore cuts off microphone of Phelim McAleer a filmmaker, who asked Gore to address nine errors in his film identified by a British court in 2007.

This shows it is a political issue. Science encourages debate and questions. So what system of government do you have when you cannot question your leaders?

  21. onebrassring says:

not to be rude.. but have you or anyone else that will read this think about what the world has been doing since the last ice age?? the world has been getting warmer.. the earths temp. will cycle and continue to do so.. maybe humans contribute to the effects of the warming.. but the earth will continue to get warmer with or without us.. you would think that the human race would see this and adjust instead of trying to fight something that cannot be changed..who knows maybe overall man has prolonged the global warming effect that we are seeing now.. or have we increased it??
